It's Half Term... again! Top Kid Friendly Days in London

by The Bonniemob on February 13, 2017

They are much needed, come around in a blink of an eye lid and then we all wish they would end...yes, it's the half term holidays! The quest to discover newer and more original kids activities to stimulate the mind (but not too much) and exercise their little legs (but not ours), while being kind to our purse strings, is a constant challenge. Mummies and Daddies all need a helping hand so The bonnie mob team have collected some of the top tips for things to do with the kids this February half-term.

Imagine Children's Festival SouthBank

 1. Imagine Children's Festival > 9-19th Feb > London Southbank Centre

11 days of incredible kids events all under one roof to include theatre, music and literature. Choose from the brilliant immersive Adventures of Moominland with author and illustrator Tove Jansson, a special screening of The Little Mermaid where the screening is powered entirely by bicycles (by Electric Pedals) to an orchestral performance of score from The Gruffalo by Aurora Orchestra. If you are really keen and missing a bit of your social life, legendary Ministry of Sound club are hosting a family Rave-A-Roo..it's free, you'll need your earplugs but at least you can embarrass your little ones with your dance moves.

Magic Lantern Festival

2. Magic Lantern Festival > 19 Jan - 26 Feb > Chiswick Gardens, London

To celebrate the Chinese New Year, this really is a magical sight! Open from 5pm - 10.30 pm each night, this festival holds outdoor installations of all sizes all illuminated to sparkle and awe. Combine this with a vast array of international foods, an Ice Bar and rink, this journey through the Silk Road countries will be super fun. This is when you are going to need all those warm, Bonnie mob winter knits that you've got and not forgetting your hats and snoods, it's still freezing in the UK after all.

Tickets are reasonably priced and under 4's are free.

Horniman Zoo - The Robot Zoo

3. The Robot Zoo > Horniman Museum > Forest Hill > London

This highly acclaimed exhibition first came in 2009 and returns for a second time at Forest Hill's Horniman Museum. The highly interactive exhibition features animals recreated in robot form with the intent to show us the inner workings of amazing creatures. A family ticket is a reasonable £17 and entry to the museum and surrounding 16 acres of gardens are free. Aside from this magnificent temporary exhibition, it also holds an aquarium, nature trails and is super kid friendly all around.

Indian Classical Music for Kids, The Royal Albert Hall

4. Indian Classical Music For Kids > 13th Feb > Royal Albert Hall > London

Something a little bit more unusual for our mini Mob members that sounds beautiful, The Blue Lions aim to introduce the mesmirizing sounds of tabla and other rare Indian instruments to little ears. They have opened for Bob Dylan and Basement Jaxx and toured many festivals. It will be concert of rare compositions and traditional works. This sounds like a treat and could open up a door for a little music lover.

Fantastic World of Doctor Seuss - Discover Childrens Story Centre London

5. Fantastic World of Dr Seuss > Discover Children's Story Centre > London

We all love Dr Seuss stories and The bonnie mob team are no exception. The stories are so brilliantly illustrated, such clever meanings and characters and such fun to read. So now this cool exhibition allows us to immerse ourselves in this crazy land. It promises to be an explosion to the senses, dress up as Thing 1 and Thing 2 and you might even see A Cat in the Hat. Discover Children's Story Centre is a place dedicated to kids and families learning, reading and telling stories together.
