Camp Bestival is based in Dorset set in the majestic grounds of Lulworth Castle. The sun shone all weekend, which makes for happy campers! The festival is colourful, bright, glitter-tastic and full of family fun! – There is a huge array of activities including: music, arts, crafts, painting, science shows, cultural delights, culinary goodness, bubbles, free sports, books, comedians, dressing up, talent show, puppets walking around and to top it all off a stream of crazy actors appearing from nowhere… We could never get bored or fit all of it in!
There were lots of areas to choose from:
Dingly dell – is a forested area with an adventure playground full of lots of woodland activities like den building, roll down a hill and tree climbing. At night the pathways into the forest were enchanting as they were lit up with fairy lights.
The Hideaway area – lots of woodland crafts and relaxation. We spent a chilled hour making a Dagger out of wood, sanding and designing it.
There was a great selection of music for everyone’s taste –Underworld headlined as well as the likes of Ella Henderson, Ella Eyre, Normand Jay, Ekkah, Slaves, Cuban Brothers, DJ Yoda, Soul II Soul, Kaiser Chiefs, Level 42 to name a few.
Animal lovers were in for a treat with Steve Backshall on the Castle Stage as well as birds of prey displays, Llama agility, and our favourite, Ferret racing – where you bet on the ferret we wanted to win doing an obstacle course!
The entertainment continued around us wherever we went with the Blue coats, circuses, trapezes, puppets, steel bands, magic and parades.
There was a huge selection of delicious and child friendly food including pizza, pasta, curry, thai, farmers market, anything you could dream of. We ate like kings! The site was clean and safe. The odd loo became a bit festivalesque at the end, but mainly pretty clean!
The highlight was the Wall of death – noisy, dangerous and brave riders racing motorbikes around a circle doing handstands and flips with no hands!
To finish the festival there was a fantastic Firework display over the castle – in time to music – We all slept well that night exhausted after our four days of festival frolics!
And when Charlie, Tessa and Seb aren't frolicking at festivals, they moonlight as models for The bonnie mob! Here they are in our Autumn/ Winter 2015 collection, "We Are The Wild Things". The collection encompasses the freedom of childhood, for the den builders, the wildlife hunters & the felt-tip masterpiece makers.
Charlie is not only an amazing author, but also a brilliant cover star! She loved these super comfy bonnie mob "Jeeper" trousers and our chunky knits - shame it was too hot for them at Camp Bestival!
