Solid wood cars with mid-century American lines — a pizza van, a yellow taxi, a VW beach bus, a London double-decker. Candylab design in New York, and their vehicles are made from wood grown in well-managed North American forests, mostly Canadian. That was the first thing that drew us to them. The second is how they look: retro shapes drawn with real confidence, colour used just as boldly, and a finish that earns them a place on the shelf as much as on the floor.

There are small Candycars to collect, larger Candyvans, and playsets to run them through — a parking garage, a fuel station, a row of food shacks. Made for ages three and up, and the sort of toy that gets handed on.
