Olympic Torch in Brighton

by The Bonniemob on July 17, 2012

This summer has been full of great British festivities, with the Royal Jubilee behind us we now have the London 2012 Olympics to look forward to.

The Olympic Torch outside Brighton's Royal Pavilion

Yesterday evening we were lucky enough to get to see the Olympic torch relay make its way through Hove, passing many local landmarks and of course the iconic Brighton and Hove seafront.

The parade started in Hove Park which was full of great family activities and stalls, with all the children waving their flags. The atmosphere was great, the highlight was the changeover of the torch and the crowds making their way behind the convoy to the culmination at Hove Cricket Ground for an official evening of celebrations, including local band Rizzle Kicks.

The torchbearers continued early this morning with the relay starting in front of the Royal Brighton Pavilion, passing the through the Old Steine and Preston Park where the Brighton leg of the torch relay reached its end.
