How the toys are chosen
The same test as the clothes. Good materials, made to last, and worth handing to the next child. That rules out a great deal and leaves a small, considered selection.
Natural rubber, from Oli & Carol. 100% natural rubber from Hevea trees, hand painted with natural dyes, Bureau Veritas certified, and with no holes anywhere in the range. Their rattles are filled with upcycled cherry seeds.
Wood, from PlanToys and Candylab. PlanToys use chemical-free rubberwood with water-based dyes; Candylab make solid beech cars painted with water-based paints. Both are the sort of thing that ends up on a shelf rather than in a bin bag.
They make easy gifts. A teether for a newborn, a wooden car for a first birthday. A gift box with a handwritten card can be added at checkout.
Baby toys in natural rubber and wood — teethers, rattles, bath toys and wooden cars, at the bonnie mob.
