Where the look comes from

Korea Mini is a look I have loved for years. Selling the bonniemob into Korean department stores meant a lot of trips to Seoul, and I came home from every one of them inspired. Big soft knits with room in them. Sleeves you roll back. Children dressed to be comfortable, and looking all the better for it. If you have ever gone looking for Korean baby clothes in Britain and come up short, this is for you.

Children's knitwear built around comfort

Everything is cut slightly oversized, with nothing tight anywhere. Knit jumpers for babies, toddlers and older children, and one very cosy teddy fleece jacket. Clothes to be played in and danced in, good for jumping off things and crawling under others, and cool enough that a six-year-old will want to put them on.

Sizes run by age, from 12-24 months to 6-7 years. The fit is slightly oversized, so take your usual size for the slouchy look it is meant to have, or size down for something neater.

Korea Mini is named for where the look comes from, and it sits beside the bonniemob's own collections because it believes the same thing they do: that children's clothes should be comfortable before they are anything else.

Why Korea Mini

Oversized on purpose. Nothing here is cut close. The body is roomy and there is space to wear a long sleeve underneath when it turns cold. Children move better in clothes that are not holding them in, and they look lovely in them too.

Roll-back cuffs. The sleeves are long enough to turn back at the wrist, which is how they are meant to be worn. It also means a kids' knit jumper bought at three is still being worn at four, with the cuffs let down.

Characters, not slogans. A cat, a seal, a flamingo, a scattering of cherries. Quiet, slightly odd little motifs knitted into the front, rather than cartoon licences or writing across the chest.

Made to be moved in. These are clothes for climbing, dancing, jumping off the second step and lying on the floor with the felt tips. Comfort is the whole brief, and everything else follows from it.

Where the look comes from. Years of buying trips to Seoul, selling the bonniemob into Korean department stores, and coming home each time thinking about what the children were wearing rather than what I had gone there to do.

What is Korea Mini?

It is our own label, named for the look it is built on. Oversized, slouchy children's knitwear in the Korean style, sold here alongside the bonniemob's own collections.

Is Korea Mini organic cotton?

No. The bonniemob's own range is made with organic cotton, and Korea Mini is a separate thing — a cotton knit range built around a particular shape and fit. Each product page gives its composition.

How does the sizing work?

Sizes run by age, from 12-24 months to 6-7 years, with the height each size is cut to shown in brackets. Checking height is the surer way to choose. The fit is generous, so take the usual size for the slouchy look, or size down for something neater.

What are roll-back cuffs?

Sleeves cut long enough to turn back at the wrist. They look right worn that way, and they let down as a child grows, which buys you another season out of the same jumper.

Is it unisex?

Yes, all of it. The shapes and the colours are meant for any child who likes them.

How do I wash it?

Cool wash at 30 on a gentle cycle, and dry flat rather than hanging. Knitwear keeps its shape far better dried flat.
