We’ve been designing in Brighton since 2005, and in that time the bonniemob has found its way into a great many pages we’re proud of. Fashion desks, baby magazines, the weekend supplements, the gift guides that come round every December. Twenty years is a long time to keep being written about, and we’ve never taken a single mention for granted.
Over the years the bonniemob has been featured in Hello!, YOU Magazine, Grazia, Marie Claire, The Sunday Times, The Guardian, Junior and Mother & Baby, among many others.
Over the years the bonniemob has been stocked by some of the most prestigious stores in the world. Selfridges and Harrods in London. Bergdorf Goodman and Barneys New York in New York. Isetan in Tokyo, Lotte in Seoul, and a good number of department stores across South Korea.
Those are rooms where every rail has been argued over, and a small Brighton knitwear label doesn’t end up in them by accident. It ended up there because of how the knitting is done — fully fashioned, each panel shaped on the machine, by the same factories we’ve worked with since 2004.
Some very well-known families have dressed their children in the bonniemob. Most of them came to us privately, and we’d rather keep their confidence than trade on it — so we won’t be listing anybody.
What we’ll say is this. There are cardigans of ours in houses whose names you’d know at once, and there have been one or two moments over the years when we’ve opened a magazine and had to sit down. It’s a lovely feeling, and it’s not really ours to share.
In 2024 the bonniemob was named Best Baby and Kids Clothing and Accessories Brand at the Marie Claire Sustainability Awards — for the organic cotton, for the fully fashioned knitting that leaves no offcuts, and for twenty years of the same factory relationships.
Before that came three Junior Design Awards from Junior magazine — Platinum in 2018, Platinum again in 2019 and Gold in 2021 — and Platinum at the Smallish Design Awards in 2017. They are voted for by the people who write about children’s design for a living, which is the kind of recognition that means the most to us.
You can read more about how it is made on our sustainability page, or about where it all started on our about page.
